Beyond Progression
10-Week Coaching Program

This is an intimate coaching experience designed to help adult female surfers move past the mental blocks and negative spirals that steal thier joy.

Through a blend of exceptional coaching (evolved from years of working with progressing female surfers), mindset work and practical tools you will build confidence both in and out of the water, start enjoying your sessions again, know exactly what to do to progress and reach your surfing goals.

Over the 10 weeks, we'll work on:

  • Building trust in yourself and your decisions

  • Working with fear, frustration, negative self-talk and self-doubt

  • Reading conditions and understanding the ocean

  • Positioning and catching more waves

  • Creating routines that support your progression

  • Reflecting on your sessions in a way that helps you grow rather than criticise yourself

 

You'll learn, practice, reflect and implement everything in the waves you surf every week, at your local break, on your own board and in the real-life conditions you actually navigate.

Meet Your Coach

Hi, I'm Helena.

Since 2020, I've had the privilege of supporting hundreds of adult women on their surfing journeys.

At first, I thought my role was simply to teach the right technique in a supportive way.

But over the years, I realised that technique alone wasn't what created the biggest breakthroughs.

The women who experienced the greatest transformations weren't always the ones with the fastest pop up or the strongest paddle.

They were the ones who transformed their relationship with surfing - and, in the process, with themselves.

The ones who learned to quiet the inner critic.

Who stopped measuring their worth by every wave they caught... or didn't catch.

These aren't just the transformations I've witnessed in the women I've coached - they're transformations I've experienced myself.

There was a time when I believed I'd never get any better. I questioned whether I was simply wasting my time and convinced myself that everyone in the lineup was judging me.

That's why I'm so passionate about helping women rediscover the joy that first drew them to the ocean and realise what's possible for them.

From my own experience, years of coaching women, and professional training in mindset and behavioural change, I've developed a unique coaching approach that blends practical surf coaching with evidence-based coaching tools.

Because surfing isn't just something we do with our bodies.

We bring our thoughts, fears, expectations and past experiences into the water with us too.

My goal isn't simply to help you surf better.

 

It's to help you build a relationship with surfing that leaves you feeling stronger, freer and genuinely excited to paddle out again.

Q: Is this a mindset program or a surf coaching program?

It is both!

Beyond Progression combines practical surf coaching with mindset and evidence-based coaching tools. After years of working with progressing female surfers, I know that lasting confidence comes from developing both.

We'll absolutely work on the technical side of surfing - things like reading waves, positioning, decision-making, paddling, take-offs, pop ups and whatever is most relevant to your own goals. But we'll also explore the thoughts, fears and habits that often stop women from applying those skills with confidence.

Because knowing what to do and trusting yourself enough to do it are two very different things.

Q: What level of surfer is Beyond Progression for?

Beyond Progression is designed for women who are already surfing out the back (or are just beginning to) and want to feel more confident, capable and relaxed in the lineup.

You don't need to be catching every wave or surfing perfectly. In fact, many women join because they feel stuck, inconsistent or frustrated with where they're at.

What matters most is that you already have the foundations of surfing and are ready to move beyond simply learning the basics.

If you're still learning to paddle, catch whitewater waves or stand up consistently, this program won't be the best fit. Please reach out to me to find out about other coaching programs that will support you better.

Q: What will I actually learn during the 10 weeks?

Every week we'll focus on a different aspect of your surfing, combining practical skills with the mental side of progression.

You'll learn how to better understand the ocean, make confident decisions in the lineup, reflect on your surf sessions in a way that supports growth, work through fear and self-doubt, and build habits that help you keep progressing long after the program finishes.

The exact coaching will also evolve around the group's needs, questions and experiences, making every round unique.

Q: I think my technique is what's holding me back. Is this still for me?

It might be.

Sometimes a technical adjustment is exactly what's needed.

But after coaching hundreds of women, I've found that many already know far more than they give themselves credit for. What often keeps them stuck isn't a lack of knowledge - it's hesitation, overthinking, fear of making mistakes or losing confidence after one difficult session.

 

That's why we'll look at the whole picture together, helping you identify what will create the biggest shift for your surfing rather than assuming everyone needs the same advice.

Q: What if I have a bad surf session while I'm in the program?

You probably will.

We all do.

The difference is that you'll learn how to respond to those sessions differently.

 

Instead of letting one frustrating surf spiral into days of self-criticism, you'll have practical tools to reflect, learn and move forward without questioning your ability or your worth as a surfer.

Q: Do I need to surf every week to get results?

Regular time in the water will always help, but life isn't always predictable.

 

This coaching isn't about chasing perfect conditions or ticking off a certain number of sessions. You'll receive tools, reflections and practices that support your surfing both in and out of the water, so you can continue building confidence even during quieter weeks.

Q: I'm worried I'll sign up and still struggle in the water.

Progress doesn't mean you'll never have another frustrating session. It's actually a part of surfing and all surfers experience it no matter their level.
